Strollers

One piece of baby equipment you’ll definitely need is a stroller. And, in fact, most parents find that they have a need for multiple strollers. Here are some of the different types of strollers available and how they’re best used.

Canopy Strollers – Often purchased as part of a baby travel system, a canopy stroller is large and sturdy, with rubber wheels. These strollers are more comfortable than umbrella strollers, both for the baby and the person pushing the stroller. They typically provide several seat positions, cup holders for both baby and mom and some even have an activity tray. While these strollers are larger than many other strollers, today’s designs make them lightweight and easy to fold in spite of their size.

Jogging Strollers – These three wheeled strollers are a must for any runner. They provide proper balance for the stroller, so that it’s not likely to tip or be unable to perform when running. These strollers are so comfortable to push and provide such a great ride for baby that many “ non-running” moms choose them too.

Umbrella Strollers – These small, lightweight strollers fold easily and fit almost anywhere. They’re also very inexpensive; most sell for under $25. These strollers are a must for traveling as they take up very little space in your vehicle. Keep in mind, however, that they don’t recline, offer little storage and are not as comfortable for baby as a traditional stroller.

Double Strollers – These strollers are perfect for twins or for any family that has two children young enough to need a stroller. They cost just a bit more than a single stroller and make life oh-so much easier for the mom with twins or one infant and one toddler. You’ll also find these designed for three children, and you can special order strollers for quads.

A baby stroller is a piece of baby gear that you’ll use for quite some time. In fact, many children ride in a stroller regularly until they reach the age of about four. For this reason, it makes sense to invest in a high quality stroller (or two). In fact, it’s wise to try your stroller out in the store before you buy, as the stroller’s height and how it moves is very important to the comfort of your body as you push. So, choose the stroller style that fits your life, and then choose your strollers with care so that they last for years.
