Travel Systems
It’s entirely possible that one of the greatest inventions in recent years for new parents is the travel system. These ingenious contraptions help you keep baby safe and secure when you’re away from home, without leaving you with a sore back or a grumpy baby.
A travel system consists of a stroller with a car seat/infant carrier for your little one, along with a car seat base for the car seat/carrier. The various pieces of infant travel systems work together to make life easier for mom and baby.
The car seat base can be attached to your car’s back seat using either the seat belt or the seat anchor system. (You can buy a second base for another vehicle separately.) The car seat itself snaps into the car seat base. You can put baby in the car/infant seat in the house and simply snap him, carrier and all into the car seat base. When you arrive at your destination, you needn’t remove baby from the seat, just remove the entire seat. This is especially helpful when you have a sleeping baby in tow.
Once you’ve removed the carrier from the car, you can carry it by hand, or use the stroller that comes with the travel system. Your car seat/carrier will snap right down onto your stroller so that you don’t have to remove baby from the seat and put him in the stroller. Once baby outgrows the car seat/carrier, the stroller can be used just like other strollers.
Travel systems really add convenience to traveling with baby. Most travel system strollers are very user friendly, with large tires and lots of features. You can even find travel systems designed for the mom of an infant and a toddler, with a spot for the car seat/carrier in front and room for a toddler to sit or stand in back.
As you might imagine, baby travel systems are not inexpensive. However, since you’re getting a high end stroller along with a car seat and infant carrier, they’re well worth the expense. This is a great item to list on your baby registry. Several friends can chip in together to buy it for you. Since the car seat is designed rear facing for infants up to twenty pounds, this is the car seat you’ll want to have before baby’s born.
Travel systems are made by nearly all major baby product manufacturers. Read reviews carefully in order to choose the travel system that best meets your needs and is highly rated for safety. Your travel system is one baby product you’re sure to love.
