You may have recently heard of stroller bags and you may be wondering what they are and if you really need one. Well, don’t feel alone. Stroller bags are unfamiliar to many of us, and there are even a couple of different types of stroller bags. Here are the two most common ones.

Stroller Bags For Transporting Strollers – These are actually giant carrying cases for your stroller. They are designed to protect your stroller from damage that might occur during transportation of the stroller. This is not an item I’d rush out and buy right away, as you may determine that you don’t really need it. Manufacturers tout that it’s great for checking your stroller for airline travel. But, personally, whenever I traveled by air with my children I used my stroller all the way to the end of the jet way and “gate checked” it. This process allows you to use your stroller for your child right up until you board the airplane, but it doesn’t leave a lot of opportunity for packing the stroller up in a stroller travel bag for the trip. If you decide to purchase a stroller bag, be certain it fits your particular stroller. There are some especially designed to fit umbrella strollers, for example, and these might not be large enough to fit a full sized stroller. The bag should list either the makes and models of stroller it can accommodate or at least the stroller dimensions it can accommodate.

Stroller Diaper Bags – These are diaper bags made by the stroller manufacturer and designed specifically to mount on the handles of your stroller. These diaper bags are very handy, because you know your diaper bag is going to fit right on your stroller, ensuring you don’t have to lug it around. You’ll find stroller diaper bags to be a bit more expensive than most regular diaper bags. However, knowing that they’ll fit your stroller exactly is a big plus. And, most are roomy enough to be the only diaper you’ll ever need, whether you’re using your stroller for the day or not. Most stroller diaper bags are available in colors to coordinate with the stroller that they fit, so they provide a stylish look, as well.

So, as you can see, stroller bags are a bit of new idea, but both kinds can provide convenience for parents. Just be certain that you choose stroller bags that are compatible with the stroller you have for maximum benefit.
