Toddler Beds

For many parents, knowing when to move their child from the crib can be a difficult decision. Children often reach a point where it seems that keeping them in their crib is dangerous, because they’ve begun to climb out, or at least they’re attempting to climb out. However, toddlers are often very attached to their cribs, and don’t want to give them up.

One way to ease the transition from crib to bed is to put your child in a toddler bed. Toddler beds function like regular beds, allowing your child to get in and out of bed on her own. However, because they use the crib mattress, toddlers don’t feel overwhelmed by the size of a regular bed.

Toddler beds come in all shapes and sizes. Some cribs transition to toddler beds, or you can purchase a new toddler bed. You’ll find many character beds and other beds that appeal to toddlers. Choosing a toddler bed that your child loves will also make the transition from the crib easier because they’ll be anxious to sleep in their new bed.

Choose, perhaps a car bed for your toddler son or a princess bed for your daughter. These beds have instant impact with a toddler, and the frames sit very low to the ground, which makes them safe for the toddler when getting in and out of bed on his own. To further create excitement about the new bed, take your toddler with you to buy the bed and enlist their assistance in setting up the new bed.

Because the toddler bed uses the crib mattress, you can continue to use crib sheets for your child’s bed. However, you may want to purchase a toddler bedding set to coordinate with the new bed. Your child will love picking out a new comforter and other bedding accessories.

Keep in mind that because a toddler bed uses a crib mattress, it’s not designed to be your child’s childhood bed. By the age or four or five your toddler will be ready for regular bed. For this reason, it’s wise not to spend too much money on a toddler bed. Most character beds are reasonably priced, but beware of those that cost upwards of $500. You could easily buy your child a regular twin bed and mattress for that price, so you should think twice about spending that amount on a toddler bed that will just be sized right for a short period of time.

Toddler beds are a great way to make the transition out of the crib easier for your little one. Take a look at all the choice you have in toddler bed and choose your little one’s favorite right away.
