Nursery Accessories
Decorating the perfect nursery can be a challenge. It’s important that your nursery be stylish, but it must also be safe. Before you know it, your baby will be crawling and then walking, using his room as a place to play. Here are some tips to make your nursery stylish, safe and affordable.
Start With A Theme – A nursery theme will make everything easier, from choosing your bedding to your nursery accessories. Whether you use a character, like Winnie the Pooh, to create your theme or something more generic, such as ladybugs or the jungle, this theme will be central to every other nursery decorating decision you’ll make. If you know your baby’s sex, you can create a very specific nursery, of course. However, even if your baby’s gender will be a surprise, there are many themes that work well for both sexes. A beach nursery, animal nursery, barnyard nursery or teddy bear nursery work equally well for boys and girls. After the baby is born, you can add more gender specific nursery accessories to the room.
Choose Wall Colors To Last – Avoid painting or wallpapering the walls in too juvenile a theme. Before you know it, your baby will be a child, and those cute bunnies or bears on that wallpaper won’t look so appropriate anymore. By painting the walls in a color that a child can grow with, such as green or blue, or wallpapering in wallpaper that doesn’t scream “nursery”, you’ll be able to put off repainting or wallpapering for a lot longer.
Keep The Accessories Safe – Choosing nursery accessories is different than choosing accessories for other rooms. Typical accessories like candles and vases are not really appropriate for a baby’s room. On the other hand, throw pillows and wall art are great baby nursery accessories and are perfectly safe. Avoid items with sharp edges or things that break easily. If you’re choosing accessories that are very babyish, such as items to coordinate with your crib bedding, try to stick to a budget. You’ll probably want to replace these items when your child moves out of his crib, so it doesn’t make sense to spend a great deal of money on them.
Accessorizing your nursery can be great fun. Be certain to choose items that are safe and keep art out of baby’s reach. By paying attention to these little details, decorating your child’s nursery can be a simple task with beautiful results.
