You should also ensure that your antique high chair has a safety belt. Most old high chairs weren’t equipped with safety belts, but your baby will be much safer if you install one. If you’d rather not attach a new safety belt to your high chair because of the antique’s value, you can simply buy a belt and loop it around the back of the chair. This will usually work just as well as if the belt is actually attached.

It’s important to choose a high quality high chair for your baby. A removable tray and sturdy construction are essential to your high chair lasting for as long as you need it. You should also look for a high chair that’s easy to clean. The seat and chair pad should be made of vinyl that can be wiped clean with a wet rag. If you refinish an antique high chair for use, be certain to coat it with polyurethane to make it easier to clean.
