Baby Shampoo

Most of us know that baby shampoo contains ingredients that are non irritating to baby’s eyes. But, outside of that, most of us don’t know much about baby shampoo or what it contains. However, choosing a really good baby shampoo can do more than just get your baby’s hair clean and prevent tears.

You can purchase name brand baby shampoos at any grocer or pharmacy. These shampoos are typically gentle on baby’s hair and scalp and do not sting the eyes. You can also purchase “all over baby wash” that can be used on baby’s hair and body. These products are convenient, because they eliminate the need to have multiple products for the bath.

However, if you’re willing to pay a bit more money, you can buy baby shampoo that is all natural, especially gentle and may even be able to relieve other typical baby maladies, such as cradle cap.

Dry scaly skin and cradle cap are common baby ailments. They’re not dangerous, but they can be unsightly and uncomfortable. Mothers often try dozens of remedies before they come across something to get rid of these nuisances. In addition, many babies simply outgrow these conditions before a remedy is discovered. But, specialty shampoos like Touch of an Angel, which is made without sodium laurel sulfate, a common irritant can keep your baby’s hair clean and sweet smelling along with curing cradle cap and other scalp irritations. This shampoo is also good for babies with especially sensitive skin who are prone to irritations.

Name brand baby shampoo makers are starting to get on natural bandwagon, too. Even Johnson baby shampoo now makes a moisturizing formula with honey and vitamin E for natural soothing and healing.

If your baby has especially sensitive skin, you may have to try several baby shampoos before you discover one that won’t irritate baby’s skin. Fortunately, there are many different brands of baby shampoo to choose from, so you should be able to find one that will work for you. Before you spend a lot of money on an expensive high end brand of baby shampoo that might or might not ease your baby’s dry skin, ask for a sample. Most specialty companies will be happy to give you free samples of their baby shampoo and other products.

Don’t be discouraged if it takes a bit of time to find a shampoo that works for your baby’s sensitive skin. If you try enough brands you’re sure to find a suitable shampoo. And, in time, your baby’s skin will likely become tolerant of more products.
