Clothes For Mom

If you’ve just had a baby, you’re probably finding that you have few clothes that you like to wear. You’re likely sick of your maternity clothes, but your pre-baby clothes may not fit just yet. Here are some ideas for clothes for mom just after childbirth.

Buy some nursing tops if you’re breastfeeding – One way to get some new clothes that you don’t have to feel guilty about purchasing is to purchase some nursing tops. This way you can have some new shirts that are not as loose around the middle as your maternity tops, but are sized right to fit your larger breasts. Not only will these new clothes for nursing mothers give your spirits a boost, but they’ll also make nursing easier.

Use your basic maternity pants and shorts- You’re likely to be a bit bigger in your stomach and hips for a while. In addition, just after a c-section you may have some swelling. Using your maternity pants and jeans for a bit longer will allow you to feel comfortable. Pairing them with new shirts will give them a new look.

Buy a few inexpensive clothes that make an impact – Buying one or two outfits that fit perfectly right now will make you feel better while the baby weight is still coming off. Find things on sale to prevent having to spend too much.

Give it some time – You may feel depressed about the way your body looks just after childbirth, but give it some time. In many cases you’ll see a huge difference (for the better) in your body within just two weeks of giving birth, and many women are back to their pre-pregnancy weight within six weeks.

Be healthy – Crash diets are not for new mothers. First of all, if you’re breastfeeding you need nutrients and calories for making breast milk. However, even if you’re not nursing, you need to eat well to decrease the fatigue you’re sure to be feeling. Eat enough food, but choose foods that are healthy and nutrient dense like fresh fruits and vegetables with lean protein.

Exercise- Exercise will help your body get back to normal more quickly. It doesn’t need to be strenuous; start by putting baby in the stroller and going for a walk in the neighborhood. You can progress to more strenuous exercise as your body heals.
