Child Care Services
One of the biggest concerns of working moms today is child care. It can be difficult to go back to work after having a baby; if you have concerns about your child care arrangement, it can be next to impossible. There are several options in child care services, each with advantages and disadvantages. Take some time to give some thought to all the different child care service option and choose the one that makes the most sense for your family.
The first option is what is referred to as in-home child care. This is a nanny or sitter who comes to your home. This is a great situation for those families who can afford it, because your child will be in your home all day. This means he’ll be exposed to fewer germs and you won’t be required to transport him back and forth each day. The disadvantages to this type of child care are that it is by far the most expensive option, and that you may have difficulty finding a replacement nanny if your regular nanny is sick or needs to take a vacation.
Another option for day care services is the small home daycare. In this situation, you find someone who will watch your child in their home along with a few other children. The advantage to this situation is that your child is in a home environment and is not exposed to a lot of other children. In addition, this option is often less expensive than a larger daycare, and is certainly less expensive than employing a nanny. However, you may again be faced with no one to watch your child when your sitter is sick or takes vacation. And, as your child gets older, this arrangement may lack the academic stimulation you’d find in a day care center.
The third option is a traditional daycare center. This is the child care method chosen by most working parents today. With this option, you need never worry about being left in a lurch because a caretaker gets sick or needs a vacation. Traditional day care services also provide a learning environment for your child as he gets older, and most daycares are affordable for working families. The biggest disadvantages to day care centers are that your child will be exposed to a great number of germs, and will get less individual attention because of the large number of children at the center.
Choosing the right child care services for your child can be difficult. Take your time and choose wisely; it’s important to your child’s welfare and your own peace of mind.
