Baby Shower Gifts

If you’ve been invited to a baby shower and are unsure about the right gift to give, don’t despair. There are many ways to please the expectant mother and purchase a gift that you’re happy to give. Here are some ideas for baby shower gifts.

Give A Keepsake – If you’d like to give a gift that will be a treasured memory, consider traditional baby keepsake gifts such as crystal baby blocks, sterling silver baby rattles and cups or monogrammed blankets. Items that can be engraved or monogrammed with baby’s name or initials and birth date are especially sentimental.

Give A Theme Gift – Create your own baby shower gift basket by choosing several small items within a specific theme. For example, purchase a countertop baby bath tub and fill it with baby soap, baby shampoo, a pack of baby washcloths, hooded towel and a rubber ducky. Tie it all up in a large cellophane gift bag and you have a great bath themed gift “basket” in a tub.

Make Something – If you sew, knit or embroider, make a homemade baby shower gift. Bibs monogrammed with baby’s initials or knitted baby blankets are wonderful baby gifts. They’re useful and all the more special because they were handmade by a friend.

Do Something Out Of The Ordinary – Make your own “gift cards” redeemable for items the new mom might need help with after baby’s birth. Some examples include “Good for one night of free babysitting”, or “Good for one delivered home cooked meal”.

Check Out The Gift Registry – Most women will register at some sort of baby shop, listing the items that they need and want for their baby. This is a great way to help ensure that mom gets the items she needs. Be certain to let the checkout person know you’re purchasing a registry item, so that the item can be noted as purchased on the prospective mom’s registry.

Something Just For Mom – Consider doing something for mom that isn’t baby oriented. For example, give mom a spa gift certificate. After a few weeks of taking care of a newborn, she’s sure to be ready for a massage.

Gift Cards- One gift that’s always perfect is a gift card to a baby store. Mom can use this card to purchase whatever she needs that isn’t received at her baby showers. These come in really hand for all those little things you need at the last minute. They’re also just about the easiest baby shower gift to buy.
