Baby shower games are a traditional part of baby showers. Today, many hostesses choose not to play games, opting for conversation over activities. However, there are still many hostesses and guests who enjoy the funny and even silly games that are often played at baby showers.

Before you choose the games you’ll play, consider your guest list. Do they all know each other well? If not, a “meet and greet” game might be in order. Name That Nursery Rhyme

Before the shower, make a list of 10-15 different lines from various nursery rhymes. It is best if they are a lesser known line from the rhyme. For example, from the nursery rhyme “Hey Diddle Diddle” you might use “the little dog laughed to see such sport”. Make enough copies of your list for each guest. During the shower, pass out a copy for each gift and have them write down the name of the corresponding nursery rhyme. The guest who gets the most correct is the winner.

Baby Pictionary

Prepare a list of 5 - 10 baby items, baby actions, or baby situations. Some examples include labor pains, baby bottle, diaper changing, burping, etc. During the shower, form 2 teams. You’ll play the game just like Pictionary. Each team takes turns drawing a picture for their team depicting the item or phrase on the card. Use a stopwatch and give each team a certain amount of time for drawing and guessing. The team must get the right answer within the allotted time to get the point.

Diapers In The Dark

Gather a cloth diaper, several safety pins, a blindfold, and a large doll or teddy bear. Be certain that the diaper will fit the doll or bear. Blindfold each guest one at a time and have them diaper the “baby”. Time each guest with a stop watch. Guests are judged on both how quickly they can diaper baby and the neatness of their diapering job.
