Baby Shower Drinks

When you’re hosting a baby shower or any other type of party, you should consider your beverage menu carefully. Of course, you could always serve the standby drinks of coffee and tea, but with a little thought you can have a beverage menu that perfectly complements your food menu or your theme. Here are some ideas for baby shower drinks that can help you plan a beverage menu that’s a little unpredictable.

Have A Signature Drink – If you’re planning to serve alcohol, you may be tempted to stick to beer and wine to save money and prevent you from having to acquire all the liquor and mixers required to offer an open bar. Instead, however, why not offer beer and wine along with one cocktail – the signature cocktail for the theme of your baby shower. For example, if you’re hosting a baby shower brunch, serve mimosas or Bloody Mary’s. If you’re hosting a garden party, light and fruity drinks like mai tai’s or mojito’s are appropriate.

Make An Appropriate Punch – If you’re not serving alcohol, or if you just want a special drink for your non drinkers, make a special punch. Punch made with tropical juices works well for afternoon gatherings. There are dozens of punch recipes that can be made ahead and frozen until you’re ready to use them. Then, a couple of hours before the party starts, simply empty the frozen punch into the punch bowl and add some club soda.

Have A Coffee Bar – Another great option for brunch showers or for showers where you’re only serving dessert is a coffee bar. Offer espresso and cappuccino along with flavored syrups for your guests to put in their coffee. Before the party, learn to steam milk like a pro and make sure you have cinnamon, nutmeg and cocoa for topping your coffee drinks.

Make It A Tea Party – Serve a traditional tea party food menu, like finger sandwiches and tiny pastries and make a few pots of really good tea to serve for the beverage. You can offer some exotic teas that your guests might never have tried before. Be certain your variety includes at least one white and one green tea alternative. Go all out and brew loose tea in china teapots for an absolutely elegant baby shower.

So, as you can see, there are lots of ways to spice up the beverage menu at your next baby shower. Give the menu some thought and come up with great ways to impress your guests!
