Rompers
Rompers are some of the most convenient pieces of baby clothing. Rompers are one piece outfits that snap at the crotch and down the legs. They may have long pant legs, but many are shorts, or have elastic leg openings.
You’ll soon find that two piece outfits are very inconvenient for babies. The shirts, in particular just won’t stay put. So, at least until your child begins walking, you’ll find one piece outfits with easy diaper access, like rompers, to be one of the best ways to keep baby covered and looking cute.
And, fortunately, rompers are abundant and come in every style, color and fabric imaginable. You can find dress up rompers that are appropriate for church, pictures and other special occasions. In addition, you’ll find dozens of options for rompers for everyday play wear.
When you’re shopping for baby rompers, there are a few things you should look for to ensure you’re buying a romper that will be long lasting and comfortable. These include:
• Soft fabric – Even for dress up rompers, you should ensure that the fabric is soft and comfortable for babies. Some of the prettiest dress up rompers are made from cable knits or other soft knits.
• Non-binding elastic – Most rompers have elastic in the leg openings. Make sure that this elastic isn’t too tight or too binding. Otherwise, baby’s legs will be very uncomfortable and blood flow may be restricted.
• Stain resistant fabrics – As with other baby clothing, rompers are likely to get lots of spills on them. Choose fabrics that wash well to ensure that your baby’s rompers stay beautiful for a long time.
• Proper length – It’s very important to check the length in any one piece clothing outfits. When one piece outfits like rompers and sleepers get even a little bit too short, they can be very uncomfortable and binding, particularly around the crotch area. If possible buy the rompers just a bit too long so there’s room for growth. It’s also wise to buy fabrics that won’t shrink to help avoid the romper from becoming too short because of shrinkage.
You’ll find that rompers are some of your favorite clothes for baby. They’re convenient and look great on babies. And, you can typically find rompers sized up to a 3T. However, as much as you may like them, it’s wise to switch to shirts and pants when baby begins potty training, as rompers can be difficult to handle for the child who is trying to learn to go to the bathroom alone.
